The White House Green Room decorated for the Holidays

Over the years, designers have shied away from green except in certain circumstances.  At certain well-known buildings, significant rooms with dominate green interior design have earned the moniker “The Green Room’;”  here are some famous ones.

The Green Drawing Room, Buckingham Palace, London, England.

  1. The Green Room at the White House: Steeped in history and tradition, the Green Room in the White House is an iconic space where presidents have entertained guests and made crucial decisions. The room is adorned with antique furniture, gold accents, and, of course, a rich green color scheme, creating an atmosphere of elegance and sophistication. Perfect for Holiday Décor. See image above

  2. The Green Drawing Room at Buckingham Palace: Located in the heart of Buckingham Palace, the Green Drawing Room is a regal space filled with opulent furnishings, ornate decorations, and a dominant green color palette. It serves as a venue for royal receptions and official gatherings, embodying the grandeur of the British monarchy.  My favorite green room on the planet.

  3. The Green Room at the Metropolitan Museum of Art: Within the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the Green Room is a space dedicated to showcasing European decorative arts. With its green walls and carefully curated displays of period furniture, tapestries, and fine art, this room transports visitors to different epochs of artistic splendor. A fine example here—see below

4. Ocean Waves: Growing up in a beach community in Southern California, the best green room is the cavity created by a breaking wave…enough room inside for a surfer to shoot thru. We call this “The Green Room” or “getting tubed”

Surfers, body-surfers, and boarders know this as “The Green Room”.

Exploring these famous green rooms offers a glimpse into the diverse ways in which this color has been utilized to create atmospheres of luxury, history, and artistic expression. And take up bodysurfing, boarding, or surfing.
