Westover House

Oakland Hills, CA

The house was designed for a couple with 2 children and live-in in-laws.  Exterior materials feature stucco (the color of oak leaves in spring) and warm gray metal siding.  The main level has access to a south-facing deck with views of the Oakland Hills. The 2-car garage is two levels below the main level.

To obtain a large deck without stilts, this particular project features a huge retaining wall which was costly and virtually unseen.   But this is money well spent since the main level now has access to outdoor space directly on the ground, thus avoiding the ubiquitous wood deck-on-stilts usually found on these kinds of sites.
