Pine Needle House

Oakland, California

The 4 bedroom/3.5 bath was design for a professional couple with 3 young children. The exterior trellises animate the front  while creating opportunities for hanging vines.  In time, the home will be  intimately surrounded by the landscape.  The stucco exterior has two colors:  moss-gray and tan.   Statistics:  3700sf,  4 bedrooms/3-1/2 bath.

When a visitor first enters the house, this is what the visitor sees:    incredible views of downtown Oakland, downtown San Francisco, and all four bridges .

This viewpoint is taken  from the entrance hall which is beside the dining room--A great way to introduce the visitor to the views.

The windows all face a 4-bridge Bay view.  The bedrooms are on the second floor.  The breakfast nook, the formal dining room,

and the living room are on the ground floor

The large eaves and trellis protect the interiors from the west sun.

The house occupies one of the few level sites with fine views of San Francisco Bay
