Bongo Burger Restaurant

Berkeley,   CA

The clients requested that the entire inside be remodeled and new "sidewalk cafe" style windows be installed.

Work  included the restoration of the store facade back to the Art Deco with glazed black tile with silver tile inserts.

The signage is composed of raised stainless-steel letters with a red neon "streak" between the letters and the glossy black tile.

A dramatic 10'-0" cantilevered trellis accentuates the presence of the skylight as well as marking the location of the order counter.  Sunlight filters down thru the trellis.

The original skylight was found hidden above a suspended acoustic ceiling

French doors replaced the old glass storefront

Before: A 1950's style cheap and tacky metal marquee was hiding the Art Deco glossy black tile facade.

After: The Art Deco glossy black tile facade is restored.
