| This project in Manhattan Beach,
about 2 blocks from the beach, is located along one of the walk-streets
(a "pedestrians' only" street to the beach) that are found in
Manhattan Beach and Hermosa Beach, Los Angeles County. The shingled
mansard roof (left) was removed and replaced with a sloped roof with
copper shingles.
The result is infinitely more attractive, less massive, and more in
keeping with the surroundings. The house is an "upside down" house
which means that the main living level is the top level where the views
are. The remodeled area is the living room and kitchen area.
The front yard and ground level were also remodeled with new family room
french doors that open onto the lower deck and front yard.
