This project, currently in the design phase, is a major remodeling of an existing Malibu house which is simply under-whelming  and does not relate well to the existing site.  The existing site gently slopes towards the Malibu coastline located about one-half mile away, about 25 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles, California.

The architect was asked to enlarge the house by adding bedrooms, and to remodel the entire front yard, driveway, front door sequence to something much interesting and gracious-a porte-cochere, for example.

The solution in includes a trellis like patio which overlooks the pool, and the view of the ocean beyond.

The architect was also asked to design a second unit with three car garage underneath, and design the pool and landscape between the main house and the second unit--all per City of Malibu regulations and Los Angeles County regulations.
