This modern house, scheduled to break ground in June 2008, is a "green" residence design per 2007 Build It Green and LEED New Home Construction Guidelines.  Three terraced wings are built into the hillside and branch off of the spine under a standing seam metal sloped roof.  Each wing has a "Green" roof with access onto this roof from the wing at that level.   All major rooms and all bedrooms open out onto each terrace.  Each terraced wing is built into the hillside and has terrific views of San Francisco Bay.

The spine itself contains stairs and is designed to act as a passive sun-room during the winter months. During the summer months, the trellis acts as a solar shade along with deciduous vines.

The sloped roof drains rain-water into a cistern under the garage; Photovoltaic panels, set in three groups of seven panels, set upon the standing-seam metal roof.  the "green" roof has 18 inches of earth over 3 inches of Geo-Foam to sustain grasses and small shrubs.
